Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) is not only the technique I use most in my practice, incorporating it into much of my massage work – it’s also the one client’s most frequently recommend to their friends and family. Many people have been referred to me for MFR because other treatments they had tried simply hadn’t been effective – especially in the long term.

MFR is a remarkable way of working that can relieve chronic and acute pain and deep-seated tension. It is a specialised physical and manual therapy used for the effective treatment and rehabilitation of soft tissue and fascial aches, pains, tensions and restrictions.

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds the muscles, organs and bones throughout our bodies. When it is damaged, through physical or emotional trauma, we tense up and the fascia constricts. When the fascia is unable to release again, it becomes stuck in this constricted position – and as a result creates pain which can become long-standing and difficult to treat.

If these constrictions are not released properly, the fascia will remain tight, causing discomfort or pain, and may ultimately affect our health by constricting the flow of blood, nutrients and waste throughout our bodies.
